Distributed Processing Environment 1
TANGRAM - Object Application Award 1996
The project won Object Worlds' Annual Object Application Award in the category "Best Implementation utilising Reusable Components Leveraged from or to use in other Projects" in 1996 (see TANGRAM * Publications).

One target of the TANGRAM project was the development of a platform for distributed applications. The first implementations used Smalltalk.

Dr. K. P. Eckert, the architect of the project, designed the TANGRAM Distributed Processing Environment (DPE 1) and specified its components using Interface Definition Language (IDL).

My jobs were:

Using the DPE, the Tangram team developed as first distributed application a video conferencing system, which can be seen on the upper part of the screen in the background of the photograph.
The Request Monitor Net Editor visualizing the running system can be seen in the lower part of the screen.
